Semiconductor Physics

Semiconductor Physics Materials are classified in to conductors, insulators and semiconductors. On the basis of their current carrying or electron carrying capacity. A semiconductor is a material having a current carrying capacity or conductivity lies between a conductor material and an insulator. The resistance of a semiconductor decreases with the increase in temperature so we can say that a semiconductor having negative temperature coefficient of temperature. That means a semiconductor act as an insulator at very low temperature. And act as a conductor at very high temperature. Germanium(Ge), Silicon(Si), Selenium(Se), Tellurium(Te), Boron(B) etc are some semiconductor materials in which Germanium and Silicon are most widely used for manufacturing electronic devices. These semi conducting materials are classified in to two types. 1) Intrinsic semiconductor 2) Extrinsic semiconductor
